FVA Student-Athlete Spotlight - Maegan Schreiter, Appleton West Volleyball

Each week during the 2014-15 year beginning in late October, the Fox Valley Association will feature two student-athletes (one male and one female) from one of its 10 schools for a "Student-Athlete Spotlight" Q & A segment. The segments will be posted every Tuesday and Thursday and individuals are selected by the school.

Name: Maegan Schreiter

Other school clubs/activities: Key Club, Link Crew

Parents’ names: Barbara and Dave Schreiter

Siblings’ names: Caitlin Schreiter

Favorite aspect of your school: My favorite aspect of Appleton West would be the teachers and staff because they go above and beyond to make sure you are successful.  Also, West has amazing school spirit and everyone is proud to be a Terror.

Favorite aspect about being involved in school activities: The best thing about being involved in school activities is all of the opportunities that are given to us; also the people you meet. We are not only given the opportunity to represent West but again to show how proud we are to a Terror.  It’s really nice having people around who have common interests as you do.  For example I have met some amazing friends through volleyball.

College or post-high school plans: My post-high school plans are to attend college and to hopefully get into a medical program. I am hoping to become a Panther and attend UW Milwaukee in the fall.

What is your desired major/career field?: I plan to attend a medical school to become a nurse.

What is your favorite class?: Sociology; Anatomy and Physiology

Who is your favorite teacher?: I’ve had several favorite teachers; it’s hard to pick one.

Favorite book?: The Lucky One

Favorite Youth Coach?: My sister Caitlin Schreiter

What is the best advice one of your coaches has given you?: I was told that every time I step on the court, you need to work hard to earn your spot. This has kept me humble in my success, because I know that if I don’t give 110% at every practice/match my position is open for the taking. You are never too good to stop working.

Something people would be surprised to know about me is…: I’ve held a baby lion.

Favorite place to play on the road in the FVA: Appleton North

Favorite athlete to play against in the FVA: Taylor Huss (Kimberly)

Favorite memory from being involved in co-curricular activities is…: Volleyball team bondings

Favorite professional team: Green Bay Packers

Favorite professional athlete: Jordy Nelson

Favorite person to follow on twitter: Any athletic account.

A non-athletic talent I have is…: Cosmetics
