Alternate Fall Sports to Be Played in Spring 2021

Stevens Point Added to Fox Valley Association for Fall Alternative Season in Spring 2021

Stevens Point Area Senior High School has been added to Fox Valley Association schedules for fall sports during the alternative season being provided by the WIAA in the spring of 2021.

Appleton East, Appleton North, Appleton West, Fond du Lac, Oshkosh North and Oshkosh West are playing all of their fall sports in the spring. Kaukauna, Kimberly and Neenah moved some sports to the spring, while Hortonville conducted all of its fall sports during the fall. Stevens Point was the only Wisconsin Valley Conference school to move its sports to the spring, while all others competed in the fall.

For football, a 20-team alliance has been created with schools from the Wisconsin Valley Conference and both divisions of the Fox River Classic Conference. Stevens Point will be among the participating schools. The five-game regular season begins on March 26 and concludes with two playoff games on April 30 and May 7.

Schedules have been developed for each of the other sports and are summarized below. Spectator policies have not been finalized for each sport. Live streaming will be available for most events, based on feasibility with the facility.

Boys and girls cross country - Six schools will compete in three triangular meets each. Two separate triangulars will be held at the same site on April 6, 13 and 20 with eight varsity and eight junior varsity runners per school. A conference meet will be held on April 23 at Winagamie Golf Course with eight varsity runners per school. Appleton East, Appleton North, Appleton West, Fond du Lac, Oshkosh North and Oshkosh West are competing. Stevens Point is not participating in the FVA meets.

Girls golf - Seven schools will compete in a series of triangular meets with each school facing the others twice. The season begins with matches on April 8 and concludes with a conference meet at Chaska Golf Course in Appleton on May 13. Appleton East, Appleton North, Appleton West, Fond du Lac, Oshkosh North, Oshkosh West and Stevens Point are competing.

Boys soccer - Nine schools will compete in a round-robin of matches over five weeks from April 10 to May 8 with each school having a bye on one of the dates. Matches are played on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Appleton East, Appleton North, Appleton West, Fond du Lac, Kimberly, Neenah, Oshkosh North, Oshkosh West and Stevens Point are competing.

Girls swimming and diving - The seven FVA schools that offer the sport will all participate and will compete in a round-robin of dual meets along with Stevens Point. The season begins February 18 and concludes with a conference meet on March 27 at Fond du Lac. Appleton East, Appleton North, Appleton West/Kimberly, Fond du Lac, Neenah, Oshkosh North/Lourdes, Oshkosh West and Stevens Point are competing.

Girls tennis - Eight schools will play a round-robin of dual meets that will all be conducted indoors at Fox Cities Racquet Club in Grand Chute and Valley Fitness and Racquet in Fox Crossing. The matches will be played on weekday mornings when court time is available from March 15 through April 8. Appleton East, Appleton North, Appleton West, Fond du Lac, Neenah, Oshkosh North, Oshkosh West and Stevens Point are competing.

Boys volleyball - The same eight schools that typically compete in the FVA will participate in a regular round-robin of dual matches. Green Bay Notre Dame will compete along with Appleton East, Appleton North, Appleton West, Fond du Lac, Kaukauna, Kimberly and Neenah. The season begins March 4 and runs through April 8. Neenah will host a conference “pool play” event on April 3. Stevens Point does not offer boys volleyball.

Girls volleyball - Nine schools will compete in a season that begins on March 2 and ends on April 6. The eight FVA schools will play a round-robin of dual matches. Stevens Point has been added to four of the matches to create a triangular and will face each FVA school once. Appleton East, Appleton North, Appleton West, Fond du Lac, Kimberly, Neenah, Oshkosh North, Oshkosh West and Stevens Point are competing.
