Kaukauna Repeats as State Team Wrestling Champions With Sixth State Title

Kaukauna captured its second straight WIAA Division 1 state team wrestling championship and sixth in school history with a 35-24 win over Holmen on March 5 in Madison.

The Galloping Ghosts got pins from Drew Wendzicki at 182 pounds and Lucas Peters at 120 pounds in the victory. Judah Hammen added a technical fall at 170 pounds and Greyson Clark won by major decision at 138 pounds. Other winners for Kaukauna included Connor Smith at 138 pounds, Bryant Correa at 195 pounds, Ben Krueger at 285 pounds, Michael Posorski at 106 pounds and Bryan Winans at 126 pounds.

The Galloping Ghosts, who also won their 17th consecutive Fox Valley Association championship this season, finished 13-0 in dual meets. They beat Franklin 51-14 in the quarterfinals and Stoughton 39-35 in the semifinals. In addition to its 2021 state title, Kaukauna won state titles four straight years from 2014-17.

It marked the 26th state title in all sports at Kaukauna with 14 of those coming since 2013-14.

Wrestling Point Standings

The FVA wrestling champion is decided by a combination of dual meet and conference meet results. Each team receives 1.5 points for a dual meet victory and 1 point for each position finished at the conference meet (10 for first, 9 for second, 1 for 10th).
