Kaukauna concluded a perfect season with a 31-0 overall record and a second consecutive WIAA Division 1 state championship in an 11-3 rout of Sun Prairie in the championship game on June 11 in Madson.
The Galloping Ghosts jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings as Haylie Wittman hit a solo home run in the first inning and Karly Meredith added an inside-the-park home run in the second inning. Kaukauna had five players with at least two hits and pitchers Skyler Calmes and Meredith combined to limit Sun Prairie to just two hits.
It was the fourth state softball title for Kaukauna, which also won in 2010 and 2017 prior to the back-to-back crowns. The Ghosts have now won 51 consecutive games dating to the 2021 season. It marked the 27th state title in all sports at Kaukauna with 15 of those coming since 2013-14.
The title also continued a dominance by the FVA in softball with the conference's 16th state championship by six different schools. It was the league's third straight title with Oshkosh North winning in 2019.
